Feeling homesick or in need of a place that understands serious ale and whiskey? Feeling the urge for real Haggis and Neeps at 10 in the evening?
CAn't imagine anything more apt to finish your Italian holiday than a plate of delicious mature stilton, nutty creamy cheddar and welsh Caerfilly cheese with oatcakes and a smoky Lagavulin? Me neither.
THis cosy, vibrant little pub is one step up from the average "Irish pub in a box" places strewn up and down Rome's tourist piazzas. Whoever the owner is, he's dead serious about his whiskey, he's traveled the length and breadth of Scotland and Ireland to bring to Rome a choice so vast you could well have slumped into a drunken stupor before reaching the end of the list. Friendly and equally expert staff are on hand to explain everything you need to know, help you with your choice, suggest good pairings food/whiskey wise. Oh and did I mention they also champion the British Real Ale society?
Haggis is made in-house and is not half bad, rich and moist. There's no other place in the city where you'll get a platter of British cheese as good as this one. Or even a platter of British cheese full stop.
NO loud music, lovely oak furnishings, no tacky guinness hats OR leprechaun dolls, excellent ale and whiskey. Nuff said.
